Surgery day in 2nd grade!! Students worked with words forming various contractions by "removing" letters and stitching the contraction word back together. We would like to extend a BIG thank you to the Dundy County Hospital for donating the gowns, booties, hair nets, and other supplies!

FFA LDE #2 - 1/17/24 Yesterday DCS FFA had two high school members and ten junior high members representing our chapter at the second round of district Leadership Development Events (LDE)! A big congratulations to Laken, who punched his ticket to State FFA In Extemporaneous speaking. Laken was tasked with writing a 4-6 minute speech about an agricultural topic that was selected just 30 minutes before giving it to the judges. He came out of the event with a second place finish, a purple ribbon, and a chance to compete at the state level! Way to go Laken! Lexie competed in a well stacked Jr. Public Speaking competition. Lexie researched and wrote a speech discussing her view points about the National Beef Check Off program. She walked away with a great speech and a blue ribbon! The junior high members competed in Ag Quiz Bowl. This competition is focused on all agricultural topics and is highly competitive. Both teams did well and have improved from the previous meet. I look forward to seeing the 7th graders growth next year and am very excited to watch the 8th graders step into some new contests next year as freshmen! Overall it was a great contest and we are looking forward to bringing home many more ribbons this spring and hopefully punching a few more “tickets” to the State Convention in April! Next round of contests are February 7th!
