Fifth grade is studying space systems. This week they learned why our day is divided into hours and how clocks measure the sun's apparent movement. Students made their own sundials to see how the position of the sun can tell them the time of day.

Our 3rd & 4th graders had an amazing time at the 2nd Annual Environmental Festival! They explored important topics like the water cycle, the Ogallala Aquifer, water runoff, and how water travels through our environment. What a great day of hands-on learning in nature!

We loved having the 6th graders in the high school on Tuesday. They were able to attend four of the classes they will be in next year as 7th graders. We have another day planned for this in May so they can experience the rest of the class they will be in next year.

🌎💚 DCS FBLA helped the high school celebrate Earth Day all week long with several activities! ✔️ On Tuesday, students helped clean up our school grounds with a trash pickup during our homeroom period. ✔️Wednesday was all about recycling. Officers and members collected the paper recycling bins located in each classroom and hauled the paper to the recycling center. ✔️The 7th–12th Coloring Contest sponosred by FBLA brought out some serious creativity — winners were announced on Friday! Thanks to everyone who participated and helped make DCSHS a little greener!

Who knows what? Spanish 1 students practiced their speaking skills by surveying classmates to see what they know, and then recorded the answers. They will use the results to practice their writing skills next.
