Dundy County Stratton School Patrons:

Good morning!  Here are some of the most recent items we have been working on:  

We are off to a great start for 23-24! We have new staff members, including Emily Cameron, English teacher, and her husband Ryan, a hard-working maintenance technician, and Matt Schaub, a new Social Sciences teacher and high school girls Basketball coach! We also have hired new paraprofessionals to provide support for our students. We are excited about new projects and facelifted facilities in both the Elementary, with new windows and replacement of some lighting, and the Secondary, with new flooring and fresh paint in several hallways and the commons area. We have expanded some dual credit opportunities and are working to continually improve student learning through our School Improvement Process.

This fall we purchased a house that had fallen into disrepair for our students in the newly minted construction class to renovate with the opportunities to learn general carpentry skills, basic wiring, basic plumbing, flooring, drywall, and design through work with local trade professionals. The students have expressed excitement about the project. We also purchased a new plasma cutter for use in our shop, art, and technology teacher partnerships. This will provide many great learning opportunities for our students!

Last year we worked with an external visitation team to "Tell our story" and our reviewers had extraordinary accolades for our community, teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, maintenance, and kitchen staff.  We have so much to celebrate!  We will be working hard to build on our successes going forward - we will never be satisfied with "good enough" and pledge to aim ever higher!  Thanks to all of you for your critical support!  

On a personal note, I am so honored to be part of this great community of educators, students, business leaders, and general community support.  You have a rare thing going here - cherish it and keep doing what it takes to be part of something bigger than any of us alone can accomplish!
